The Sentinels is the collective name for the two tower blocks that occupy the site: Cleveland Tower and Clydesdale Tower. The tower blocks are the tallest postwar residential tower blocks in the city and two of the tallest in the country at 90 metres in height. They were constructed between 1969 and 1971 to a design by the City Architect of Birmingham in collaboration with Bryants who constructed it. The construction was inspired by Marina City in Chicago, Il.

  • Not the tallest - but they're pretty big - about 90 metres/30 storeys all told. Brilliant views.
  • Not the tallest for approx 5 years now, not after the Radisson was built. Odd building and horrible (my views) but certainly taller then these two tower blocks
