Dayr Jamal

Dayr Jamal is an Arab village of around 10,000 inhabitands west of Tal Rifaat.

Ethnic Composition:

Arabs 100%

By the end of July 2012, rebel forces controlled Deir Jamal
By January 2014, the town was controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
After heavy clashes, Kurdish fighters from the pro-Rojavan Jabhat al-Akrad took full control of the village.
In 2015 Al Nusra and Ahrar al Sham took control of the village.
During November and December 2015 there where clashes between SDF (YPG/Eniya Kurdan/Jabhat al Akrad) and Al Nusra/Ahrar Ahr Sham. Russian air force supported SDF with airstrikes.

Liberated by YPG in 8 February 2016.
