The cave of St. Ivan the Rila Wonderworker is located about 20 km east of the city of Rila and about 120 km from the city of Sofia. It is about half an hour's walk from the Rila Monastery. In this cave the saint spent seven years of his life. Legend has it that whoever manages to pass through the hole at the end of the cave, where souls are purified, is sinless.
