The Blagoevgrad Region is one of the twenty eight administrative regions within Bulgaria. The region has a total land area of 6449,5 sq.km., that making it the 3th largest in Bulgaria. The region consists fourteen municipalities: Bansko, Belitsa, Blagoevgrad, Gotse Delchev, Garmen, Hadzhidimovo, Kresna, Petrich, Razlog, Sandanski, Satovcha, Simitli, Strumyani, and Yakoruda with total population of 345 518 people (6-th) (01.2009).
