G&G Electric Supply (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / West 24th Street, 137
 store / shop, commercial building

4-story Greek-revival commercial building originally completed in about 1840 as a townhouse. When the original owner moved to Europe, the house became home to the family of James Whitely, in 1858. During the year of 1865 the entire family of four succumbed to cholera. The house was soon converted to a boarding house. In 1877 the first signs of commercial use appeared, with a dressmaker on the 3rd floor. In 1909 the building was leased by Dykes Lumber Co. and converted to a loft building, with a remodeled ground floor. Dykes Lumber remained on 24th Street through until about 2014 when it was replaced by an electrical supply company.

The facade is clad in white-painted brick, and includes the adjoining 3-story structure that was connected to the house at some point. The ground floor has an entrance with a red metal door and surround, and at the 3-story annex is a red garage door. The upper floors of the former house have three bays of single-window openings, with the 2nd floor appearing to retain the original 12-over-12 pane windows. The facade is crowned by a bracketed, white metal roof cornice.

The 3-story annex's upper floors have large 3-over-2 studio windows. The building is now occupied by G&G Electric Supply.
