Sherwin Williams Paints

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 46th Street, 619
store / shop, office building, commercial building

6-story office/commercial building completed in 2018. The base is designed to blend harmoniously with the neighboring building to the west, with light-grey cast-stone cladding and piers with vertical grooves dividing the facade into four bays. The grooves on the piers are not as wide as on the other building, but the geometric spandrel panel patterns between floors are recreated exactly.

The ground floor has garage doors in the middle two bays, with roll-down gates of metal and glass with multi-colored panels. The outer bays have semi-recessed entrances with glass-and-metal double-doors. The upper floors have large window bays each with four panes separated by aluminum mullions. Except for the 2nd floor, there are shorter upper panes in each bay.

The top three floors are plainer, without the grooves on the piers or the patterns on the spandrels. At the roof line, an elevator bulkhead rises at the east bay. The east elevation is faced in plain cast concrete, with window openings only on the top floor. The building is occupied by Sherwin Williams Paints, with a retail store on the lower levels.
