Built in 1961, Rihand Dam is located at Pipri in Mirzapur District on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It is a 934 m long and 91 m high straight gravity dam across the river Rihand which is the tributary of the Son. This dam has capacity to generate 300 mw of power annually.
Many other seasonal and perennial rivers join the Rihand reservoir such as River Kanchan, Mayar and Azir. The maximum length of this reservoir is 48 km. Singrauli, the region around the reservoir, is famous for coal deposits. Many power plants are functioning around this area.

  • According to me its a very good dam for villager to get employement...........and work......I want to say thanx to Mr. Pawan singh who is the cheaf of the dam...................
