  • Lucknow, The city of Nawabs. A trip to this city will never be complete without tasting its cuisine. And once you taste it, you will never like any cuisine again other than Lucknow. THIS is the place I would ever like to live.
  • It has a unique planetarium building in the shape of the planet Saturn with the five rings around it. It is the only such building in the whole of the world.
  • i am from delhi, but i think lucknow is one of the best places in the world - it has a distinct charm, its people are great, girls are confident yet graceful and very beautiful, cuisine is multi-faceted and lip-smacking, monuments are a sight to behold.... and living in lucknow you feel you're any metro of india, with its spacious malls, designer brands, great shopping, top of the class educational facilities, medical access and ever-rising job opportunities... and the best part - all this comes at half the cost of living as compared to the big metros !! i just love the place !
  • Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is situated on the banks of the River Gomati, about 516 km east of Delhi. It is popularly called the city of Nawabs and Kababs, both of which are famous here. Lucknow is believed to have been named after Lucknau or Lakshmana, a character in the renowned epic Ramayana. Formerly called Avadh, Lucknow had witnessed the last heady days of Muslim rule in India. It was also an important repository of Shi’a (a sect of Islam) culture and Islamic jurisprudence. The monuments in the city still bear the marks of India's First War of Independence in 1857. During the reign of the Nawabs of Avadh, arts flourished. The city attracted poets and artists, and Hindus and Muslims worked in harmony. It is now famous as the gharana of music and chikan (shadow work embroidery) work. Exquisite European architecture can also be seen here. Places of historical interest: Jama Masjid, Bara Imambara, Moti Mahal, Chhattar Manzil (Umbrella palace), Chhota Imambara, Clock Tower, Residency, La Martiniere, Rumi Darwaza, Sadar Ali Khan's Tomb, Shaheed Smarak, Shahnajaf Imambara, Sikander Bagh, and State Museum. Neighboring tourist and pilgrim spots include Naimisharanya, Ayodhya, Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary, Dewa Sharief, Dudhwa National Park, and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama. The city is 2544 sq km in area, with a population over 3 million. The climate rises upto 45oC in summer and falls to a minimum of 5 in winter. The Lucknow Amausi Airport, Charbagh Railway Station and Lucknow Junction Railway Station are nodal points of transport in the city.
  • Lucknow district, housing the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has an area of 2,528 sq km with a population of over 3.7 million. It is bordered by Bara-Banki District in the east, Unnao District in the west, Rae Bareli District in the south, and Sitapur District and Hardoi District in the north. Lord Ram of Ayodhya, the hero of the Ramayana, is believed to have gifted the territory of Lucknow to his devoted brother Lakshman after conquering Sri Lanka and completing his term of exile in the jungle. The Sai and Gomti are the major rivers. Wheat, paddy, sugarcane, mustard, and potatos are major crops. Vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, and brinjals are also cultivated. Generally, Lucknow has a tropical climate and receives an annual rainfall of 100 cm. Lucknow is famous for its various handicraft works such as Chikan work, a delicate and artistic hand embroidery, Zardozi and Kamdani which are also hand embroidery works with gold and silver thread and the Bidri and Zarbuland silver works. Bara Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, and Residency are major tourist attractions. The ideal time to visit Lucknow would be October to February, when the climate is pleasant and comfortable.

  • Yeah a really nice place
  • What can I say about this beautiful city, whatever said is less? I was born and raised in Lucknow. It’s the right mix of people, culture and food which make this city such an astonishing place to live. The education system and the educational institutes are top of the line. It gives you all the facilities of a metro city and yet so economical to live. The only thing which I feel is required as today is the job opportunities, if this problem is not addressed quickly then people like us will keep moving out and wait (don’t know how long) to come back. I miss you Lucknow.
