Estate home designed by Bertram Goodhue c. 1924 in the Tudor Revival style with landscaping by Warren H. Manning for Wilton Lloyd-Smith {attorney, industrialist, capitalist}. Smith served as a member of the Cotton, Franklin, Wright & Cotton law firm, president of St. Anthony Mining & Development Co., and vice president of the Tainton Products chemical research firm. He also served as a trustee of the American Museum of Natural History. Lloyd-Smith had been plagued by malaria and retired from business after suffering a heart attack in 1935.

The estate was purchased by Eduard L. Cournand {industrialist}. Cournand served as president of Lanvin Perfumes which eventually partially merged with L'Oreal. It was subsequently owned by Paula Rice.
