 office building, 1909_construction

12-story office building completed in 1909. Designed by Mulliken & Moeller as a store-and-loft building, it has a tripartite form of a 2-story base, 8-story shaft, and 2-story crown. The ground floor has recessed entrances at both ends, framed in polished grey granite; the east side has the main entrance, and the west end is a service entrance. There is a plate-glass storefront in between. Between the first two floors is a wide band of light-grey stone panels. The 2nd floor, faced in limestone, has a band of 10-over-2 window panes, with transoms along the top; the two outer piers have carved ornament at the tops, and the base is capped by a stone cornice.

The midsection is divided into three bays by four red-brick piers on stone bases, each with angled edges. The recessed bays have paired windows, separated by black iron mullions, and with decorative wrought-iron grilles across their bases. The brick spandrels have recessed panels at their centers. Topping the 10th floor, large cartouches at the piers support a cornice with oversized modillions. The crown in faced in limestone, with paneled piers topped by stone ornament, and stone spandrels also decorated with cartouches. A simple roof cornice tops the facade.

The east elevation is clad in red and brown brick, with a bay of single-windows at the front, smaller paired windows and two more bays of single-windows farther back. The west elevation is clad in red brick at the front, and brown brick on the rest of the wall, with a few bays of small single-windows. The ground floor is occupied by Shine Trim Top Trimmings, and JBLA Fashion.
