Cherniyat Rat is a protected site with Ordinance No.РД-760 from 13.08.1981 by the Committee for Environmental Protection at the Council of Ministers. In the protected area can be seen a wide variety of birds.
Recategorization with Ordinance No.РД-712 from 10.06.2003.
Unique identification code in the register of protected areas in Bulgaria: 317.
Area: 293.2 hectares.
Aims of the declaration:
1. Conservation of the primal pre-mountain forest eco-system in the Vasilyovska mountain;
2. Conservation of the habitat of a great number of rare and animal species threatened with extinction in the country.
