Dzhendema is а reserve with Ordinance No. 606 from 28.03.1953 by the General Directorate of Forestry at the Council of Ministers.
In 1977, the Dzhendema Reserve was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and after 2017 was added to the Central Balkan Reserve UNESCO's list.
