residence, LIGC - Long Island Gold Coast, guest house
"Oakleaf" was built in 1784 by John Sloss Hobart who was an English Lord, Revolutionary War Hero, and later US Senator from New York, as a guest house. About half the structure was damaged by fire in 2004, and rebuilt. The cottage attached to the western end of the structure was the original pump-house for Eaton's Neck, and has a brick lined water well 67' deep by 3' wide in a chamber beneath the cottage.
