4-story residential building completed in 1836 as a 3.5-story townhouse for Rev. James Cummiskey. He was the first pastor of the nearby Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic church on the corner of Sixth Avenue. In 1953, the building was altered by Wechsler & Shimenti with a basement entrance replacing the earlier stoop, and the 3-bay facade smooth-stuccoed and painted a pale red, eliminating nearly all the exterior detail.
