apartment building, 1956_construction, Modern (architecture)
107-foot, 13-story early-modern cooperative-apartment building completed in 1956. Designed by Sidney Goldhammer, it has a 3-bay recessed central portion facing the avenue, above the ground floor. The full western facade spans six bays. The facade is clad in white brick, with horizontal accents of orange brick. On the top floor, which takes up the southern part of the structure, the corners are angled. Large, square air conditioning vents are located below most of the windows, which are grouped into three and four-pane units on the west facade, five and three-pane units on the south side, and two and three-pane units on the east side.
The residential entrance is on 9th Street as well as the entry to a PATH station. The ground floor along 6th Avenue is occupied by Citarella, a specialty food retailer.
