apartment building, Greek Revival (architecture), 1840s construction
3.5-story Greek-revival residential building originally completed in 1847 as a pair of identical townhouses; they facades remain very similar today. They are clad in red brick, each three bays wide, with stone stoops, lintels and a white dentiled roof cornice. Both stoops have ornate wrought-iron railings that swirl out at the bottoms. No. 75 also has ornate wrought-iron grilles over the lower part of the tall parlor-floor windows. The stone sills and metal cornices on the windows (and also the doorway entablatures) are painted white at No. 75 and brown at No. 77. Both facades have very short attic windows. The basement levels are smooth-stuccoed and painted brown, with rustications at No. 75. The basement level is occupied by Michelin-starred Blue Hill New York by Dan Barber.
