Gene's Italian Restaurant

5-story residential building originally completed in 1851 as a 4-story townhouse. Although it was built designed identically to its neighbor at No. 71, the two buildings look nothing alike today.

No. 73 was raised to 5 floors just before 1900, and the two left-hand windows were replaced by a projecting sheet-metal bay window which extends up the full height of the building. The front of this house and its bay window are united under one deep, bracketed, dentiled, classical cornice with heavy swags in the fascia. At a later date a 2-story addition, with arched windows at second floor, was extended across the facade and forward to the sidewalk line.

In the 1960s this was covered with composition stone veneer and serves as a restaurant, entered at ground floor level. It is occupied by Gene's Italian Restaurant. The exterior was used as a filming location for the Netflix series "Simply Halston" in 2020.
