5-story Italianate residential building completed in 1856 as a private residence for L. Appleby. By 1886, the building's basement and first floor had been converted to commercial space; later its upper floors were converted to a multiple dwelling in 1887, when its basement and ground floor facades were removed and replaced by storefronts and show windows. By 1938, a wrought-iron fire escape had been installed on the facade. The 2-story base is clad in black cast-iron with three fluted pillars framing an entrance on the left, and a storefront on the right, whose 2nd floor is a bay window with receding, angled side panes.

The upper floors each have three bays, clad in salmon-colored painted brick. The windows have beige-painted, projecting brownstone sills and molded lintels. The facade is topped by a bracketed, black, pressed-metal roof cornice. The ground floor is occupied by Little Ned cocktail bar.
