The monastery of Breij (Deir Breij) from 6th century AC, dedicated to St Daniel, was home of some 30 moncs, who cultivated the area around, the plain as well as the rocky hills, mainly with olive tress. The olive mill consequently is larger than it should be expected. The watersupply of the monastery was garanteed ba a huge cyctern of some 320m². The complex had three stories and in parts was broken out of the surrounding limestonerocks and the stones were used for the construction of the buildings. Still well preserved and worth a detour.
