4-story Italianate mercantile building completed in 1851 as a 3-story rowhouse, nearly identical to its neighbor at 52 West 22nd. It is faced in beige-painted brownstone. The former basement now contains a street-level storefront. To the left, the original stone stoop with wrought-iron railing leads to a classically-inspired stone doorway with pilasters supporting an architrave and dentiled cornice. To the west is a projecting wood-framed display window at the parlor floor, containing two pairs of plate glass windows with transoms flanked by slender wood mullions.

The top two floors have three window openings with stone sills and projecting stone lintels. The original modillioned metal cornice surmounts the facade, where it is topped by a metal railing around the roof line. By 1887, the building had been converted to commercial use, with tenants such as dressmakers, corset merchants, and embroiderers, as well as glass and china merchants.

The ground floor is currently occupied by BXL Zoute restaurant.
