Flatiron 18 Apartments

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 18th Street, 30
 apartment building, postmodern (architecture)

260-foot, 21-story residential building completed in 2008. Designed by Cook + Fox with Grasso Menziuso Architects, it was developed by the Hakimian Organization, who also erected the Flatiron 17 building on the other side of the block. Unlike the glassy/metal highrise on 17th, Flatiron 18 is faced in multiple hues of brick, piercing by regular square window openings, spanning six bays. Each window bay has a single-pane center window flanked by narrower panes.

The beige brick piers sit on bases of red and black brick. All the window openings are lined with green brick, and spandrel bands between floors are clad in red brick, with black brick at the piers. The 2nd & 3rd floors have horizontal metal bars across the bases of the windows; at the 3rd floor the piers have coursed brick on the lower halves, with dark-colored brick on the upper halves. A band of darker brick runs between the top two floors, including across the piers, and above the top-floor windows, just below the roof cornice.

The ground floor is occupied by Little Maven restaurant.
