6-story Italianate residential building originally completed in about 1851 as a 4-story rowhouse, now connected to a 7-story building from 1907 on the opposite side of the block on 16th Street. In the late 1970s, the 17th Street facade was totally stripped and refaced in three bays of dark brown brick and white stucco, the basement was converted into a 1st story, and a 6th story was added. The 1st and 6th floors are completely stuccoed. A metal fire escape runs down the face of the building. There is no entrance on this side of the combined building.

The 16th Street building facade is clad in red brick. The 2-story base has limestone banding and a black stone section at the sidewalk that projects out slightly. A black iron, sideways-facing stoop at the left leads up to an entrance with a metal-framed glass door and sidelight below a small metal canopy. There is a bay of paired double-windows in the middle and a single-window bay to the right, with bronze-colored metal framing. A limestone band tops the 2nd floor, with a clock mounted at the center. The upper floors have more paired double-windows in the middle and single-window end bays, with matching framing. The 6th floor is topped by a pale-green metal cornice with large, paired brackets, dentils, and large modillions. The 7th floor rises above the cornice. The combined building contains 63 apartment units.
