8-story French-classical office building completed in 1882. Designed by Thomas Stent as a 6-story store. The top two floors were added in 1906. The building is faced in red brick (bright red cast-iron at the first floor) with white stone accents, giving it a sort of peppermint look. There are a variety of corbelled brick and dentiled stone string courses around the facade, and a red-painted fire escape with basket-style landings on the Mercer Street side. The Grand Street elevation is organized into two 4-bays segments, and one with three bays at the corner. The Mercer side has eight bays in the center, with a double bay at either end, plus a single bay of narrow openings at the far south end, where the elevator shaftway is located. Both facades are topped by a red metal roof cornice with paired brackets and modillions. The ground floor is occupied by Ted Baker London menswear.
