office building, Second Empire (architecture), 1870s construction
Known as the "Queen of Greene Street," this 6-story office building was completed in 1873. Designed by Isaac F. Duckworth as a warehouse, it has an ornate French Second Empire grey-painted cast-iron facade, with projecting central bays and a mansard roof. The six bays are divided by Corinthian columns with fluted bases, and the upper floors windows are segmental-arched, growing shorter as they ascend. Above the 5th floor's bracketed cornice, the top floor has a central dormer with two round-arched windows, and a broken dentiled pediment, flanked by single dormers with round-arched windows and triangular pediments.
The building's main tenant is USM Modular Furniture.
