5-story office building completed in 1869, renovated in 2001. Designed by John B. Snook, the entire facade is covered in flat, white terra-cotta tiling. The lower floors have a 2-story stone frame around black cast-iron infill, with a row of small windows above the ground-level storefront, and three very large show windows at the 2nd floor, above a spandrel beam with a line of dentils at its top. Above a band course with a Greek-fret motif, the 3rd & 4th floors have paired square-headed windows with joined sills at the 4th floor. At the top-most floor, each of the three sets of paired, round-arched windows had a centered, semi-engaged Doric column. A round plaque with G-W along with a broad terra-cotta ribbon embellishes the 4th floor. The Broadway facade is topped by a hefty parapet and broad peaked pediment with a stone coping, decorated by a bas-relief terra-cotta globe logo.
The building extends through the block to Mercer Street, where it is clad in red brick. The windows on this facade have stone sills with corbelled feet and metal cornice, and there is a bracketed, white metal roof cornice.
After being taken over by Globe-Wernicke in the 20th century, alterations were made by Starrett & van Vleck. The ground floor is occupied by CB2, an offshoot of Crate & Barrel.
