 office building  Add category

5-story office building completed in 1868. It is clad in stone, painted taupe on the ground floor, and pale green on the upper floors. At the center of the ground floor, twin fluted Corinthian columns divide the storefront into two halves, topped by a dentiled entablature. The outer edges are framed by rusticated pilasters. The rustications continue on the outer piers at the upper floors, where the midpoint of the inner piers on each floor are ornamented by a pointed ball. The windows of the two inner bays are divided by iron mullions.

A black metal fire escape runs down the south half of the facade, which is crowned by a modillioned roof cornice with a rounded pediment. Muji is on the ground floor, a Tokyo-based store specializing in deliberately unflashy housewares.
