4-story mercantile building completed in 1883. Designed by Alfred B. Ogden, it was originally used as a clothing store. It is clad in red brick with sandstone banding, and is four bays wide. In 1929 the ground story was lowered to sidewalk level and its front was altered, replacing the original cast-iron lintel above the ground story with a steel one. The building was subsequently occupied by the cloth business of Diederick and William Heidgerd, who commissioned a nearly identical building at No. 272 (three bays wide) in 1885, and by a liquor store. Currently, the ground story is occupied by discount clothing stores.
