6-story Italianate/Second Empire-style office building completed in 1869 as a store-and-loft building. Designed by Edward Wall for prominent banker and developer Samuel D. Babcock, its white-painted cast-iron facade features arcades at each story separated by prominent sill courses. Molded round-arches, carried on engaged columns, have keystones and decorative spandrels. This concentration of detail at window openings is characteristic of the Italianate style. An elaborate sheet-metal cornice with dentils and large modillions crowns the 5th floor. The 6th floor takes the form of a mansard roof with metal dormer windows. These elements evoke the Second Empire style. The ground floor retains its original cast-iron storefront framing members, although most of the ornamental details are missing. The ground floor is occupied by USA Beauty School.
