112 Franklin Street (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Franklin Street, 112
 condominium, 1860s construction

5-story residential building completed in 1867. Designed by Samuel A. Warner as a store-and-loft building. This building is identical to its slightly later neighbor at 114 Franklin Street, whose architect of record was Warner's brother, Benjamin. It has a cast-iron facade, painted bright white at the ground floor with Corinthian columns. The upper floors have segmental-arched windows, growing progressively shorter at each floor. A black metal fire escape runs down the facade, which is topped by a black metal bracketed roof cornice. At the turn of the century, the buidling was used by members of the linen and dry goods trades. In the 1940s a number of dry goods firms occupied the building, and by the 1980s, it had been converted to condominiums.
