 apartment building  Add category

5-story residential building completed in 1873 as part of a row of matching residential buildings lining the full blockfront on Tenth Avenue. The two end buildings are three bays wide facing the avenue, and the middle buildings each have four bays.

The ground floor of No. 692 has a wood, metal, and glass storefront, and an entrance to the upper floors at the north end, with a glass door and transom framed in white-painted stone. A white-painted lintel runs across the full ground floor. The upper floors are faced in lightly-rusticated, peach-colored smooth-stucco, with simple, flat, white sills and lintels at the windows, which are slightly wider than those on the other facades. White metal air-conditioning vents have been cut below the windows in the outer bays. A brown metal fire escape runs down the middle two bays of the facade, which is crowned by a white metal roof cornice with brackets, modillions, and panels.
