11-story modern residential building completed in 2008 for Ian Schrager Company. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron in association with Gary Handel. This was the first residential building in the United States by acclaimed architecture firm. The 2-story base has inverted glass bays with textured Corian walls and a cast-aluminum fence modeled after graffiti art forms. The upper stories, which span 20 bays, are luminous blue-green cast-glass with a grid of large rectangular windows. There is a setback above the 6th floor on both the front and rear sides, creating terraces with plantings. Schrager occupies the penthouse unit.
