 apartment building, 1874_construction

5-story cooperative-apartment building completed in 1874. It is a near-twin of the building to the east, situated just slightly lower and with an altered ground floor. It is clad in red brick above a ground floor of white smooth-stucco. The central entrance has a recessed, wood-paneled door framed by black cast-iron pilasters; a dark-red canvas awning covers the entry, with a matching one next door. To either side are two windows with iron grilles.

The upper floors have four bays of single-windows with black, bracketed sills and curved cornices. A black metal fire escape runs down the middle two bays of the facade, and an additional set of landings with more elaborate decorative railings spans the west bay onto the east bay of the building to the west. The facade is crowned by a green copper roof cornice with console brackets, modillions, dentils, and panels.
