282-foot, 25-story postmodern residential building completed in 1998. On the southeast end of the building are two schools, PS 89 and IS 289. Designed by Costas Kondylis & Partners, it is clad in dark red brick. The mid-rise portion of the building runs along North End Avenue and partially on Chambers Street, rising up to 13 stories. At the south side, fronting Warren Street, the main tower rises up. All along the base, recessed storefront windows are separated by brick piers on granite plinths. The upper floors have single, double and triple casement windows, with corbelled brickwork in many of the spandrels, and air conditioning vents below most of the window groups. Simple black cornices cap both the midrise and highrise roof sections. The complex contains151 apartments as well as the schools. The residential entrance is at the the south end of the North End Avenue elevation, framed in granite and covered by a suspended metal marquee. The rest of the ground floor along North End Avenue is occupied by Gourmet Market.
