"Tisata" Reserve - Еast. Tisata consists of 2 sections - east and west. They take up part of the Pirin foothills - about 984 ft (300 m) - 2296 ft (700 m) above sea level and Maleshevo Mountain, which spreads north from the town of Kresna at 984 ft (300 m) - 1640 ft (500 m) above sea level.
The reserve “Tisata” has been established by government decree № 6663 of December 5, 1949 by the name of “Tisova Barchina” with an area of 19 ha. Its purpose is protecting the largest natural habitat of Greek juniperus (Juniperus excelsa) in Europe.
After actualisation the area with Ordinance No.РД-42 from 19.01.2015 it is now 583.53 hectares.
