Historical Museum (Batak)

The museum was founded in 1956. Its rich collections and exhibitions show the lifestyle, the spiritual culture and the struggles for freedom of the region's population.
Exhibitions:
• Historical Museum - Main Exhibition on an area of 450 sq. m. It displays a rich photographi-cal and documentary material, original objects of the Notional Revival era, of the April Uprising against the Ottoman rule (1876) and the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation (1878). There is a crypt of the Batak antifascists in the basement;
• St. Nedelya's Church -Ossuary (1813) - a national historical and cultural monument. It was the historic lot of this temple to become sacred for every Bulgarian after the heroism of the local people during the April Uprising of 1876. Their self-sacrifice made it a symbol of the dream and will of the Bulgarian people for freedom;
• Balinovata House - an architectural, historical and cultural monument - a sample of the traditional Bataak architecture. The ethnographical exposition displayed in it Is dedicated to the tradtional folk culture in Batak Town at the end of c. 19 and the first half of c. 20.
