"Poda" is a protected area with Ordinance № 433 from 20.04.1989.
Area: 100.7 hectares.
Unique identification code in the register of protected areas in Bulgaria: 82.
Aims of the declaration: Saving the natural habitats of protected rare species and water birds and colonies of 5 endangered species including in The Red Book of Bulgaria.
Poda Protected Area is located south of the center of Burgas along the international highway E87 in the direction of Sozopol, before the road fork to Burgas residential area Kraymorie.

Designation date: 24-09-2002.
The site on the outskirts of the city of Burgas on the Black Sea coast features marshes, freshwater, brackish, saline and hyper-saline pools, and a shallow bay. It is one of the most important wetlands in Bulgaria for the variety of bird species: despite its relatively small area, 252 different species have been recorded. Several are internationally threatened, including the slender-billed curlew, white-headed duck, horned grebe, and the Dalmatian pelican which is present in internationally significant numbers.
