Former marsh area. Before its drainaging, that was the biggest inland marsh in Bulgaria. The dranage works began in 1920's and is fully completed in 1940's. There are a lot of draining channels in the field that lead superficial water in Mochuritsa and Marash rivers. The area is generaly use as arable and pasture lands. In spite all the drenage, this is still an ornitology important area, where many endangered bird species nidificate.
