This facility houses the Pyongyang Chewing Gum Factory, which is under the direction of the Korean Workers' Party Light Industry Department. It was completed in 2008 and produces sweets and chewing gum. In January 2009, General Secretary Kim Jong-il visited the Pyongyang Chewing Gum Factory as part of his year-long tour of the domestic North Korean economy.
