This is the central area of Pyongyang. It is bordered by industrial Pyongchon District in the west and Moranbong District in the east. The western end of the district includes three hotels and contains the offices and residences of the senior officers of the Central Committee of the KWP. The center of the district includes Kim Il Square, the main city locale and the site of numerous parades and speeches, the Grand People's Study House (the national library), three museums and the official headquarters of the KWP. The eastern part consists of the Mansudae Assembly Hall, the nominal legislative branch of the DPRK the SPA, the Museum of the Korean Revolution and the Grand Monument on Mansudae Hill, which is the immense bronze statue of DPRK President Kim Il Sung.
