This four block by eight block grid (plus waterfront) was the original layout of the town of Georgetown. It is also the location of most of the historic structures in the city, some dating back to the late 1700s. Most of this area with the addition of the riverfront buildings comprise the Georgetown Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
