Interstate 10 runs in the southern United States from Santa Monica, CA to Jacksonville, FL. In Santa Monica, I-10 begins from CA 1 next to the beach. I-10 goes through Los Angeles, then on to Phoenix, AZ. It continues southeast to Tucson, AZ and across southern New Mexico into El Paso, TX. It passes through San Antonio, Houston, and New Orleans on its way east. It goes north of Biloxi, MS and a small portion of Alabama before heading across Florida. I-10 ends at I-95 in Jacksonville.

US Highway 90 covers about 3/4 of the southern United States. From Business Interstate 10-D in Van Horn, TX, US 90 immediately goes under Interstate 10, then eastward through Sanderson, San Antonio, Houston, and New Orleans. It stays far south passing through Mobile, AL and Pensacola, FL. US 90 carries traffic through Sanderson, FL and ends at Florida A1A/Third Street in Jacksonville Beach.

This portion of Interstate 10 covers the Katy Freeway segment from West Loop 610 in Houston to Katy, Texas. An widening in the latter part of the 2000s erased the MKT railroad ROW, which was demolished in 1997.
