A McDonald's was here near this intersection before the Katy Freeway came through, but it, along with a 59 Diner, were demolished when the Katy Freeway came through. Later on, this became National Tree & Shrub, a garden center. The center downsized after Exxon expanded (taking the original McDonald's spot), then the whole thing was demolished for a McDonald's (roughly where the 59 Diner was). A spot remained vacant that was later Shipley Do-Nuts.
