200 East 37th Street

USA / New Jersey / West New York / East 37th Street, 200
 apartment building, commercial building

4-story mixed-use building completed in the 1860s. It is clad in red brick with a black-painted stone water table that rises as the site slopes to the east. The ground floor on the avenue has a storefront with small window panes and a door on the right with similar panes. The upper floors have three bays of single-windows. The top floor is set off by a black metal cornice with brick corbels, and has black metal mansard paneling at the outer bays. A black metal fire escape runs down the middle of the facade.

The longer north facade on 37th Street has at its west end a wide bay and two narrow bays with windows like that on the west facade, each with a canvas awning. A former window bay to the left has been bricked-in. The east half of the ground floor has another two window bays, the first with a double-window, and the second partially bricked-in leaving two small vents. A ramp to the left leads up to a glass door and then another door paired with a plate-glass window. The upper floors have ten bays of single-windows. The top floor, above the cornice, has a metal mansard with window dormers at the east end bay, the 4th & 5th bays from the east, and all three west bays (although there is no dormer at the end bay).

The 2nd floor is occupied by Fred Astaire Dance Studios.
