Texas Loop 207 also known as Main Street was the original main thoroughfare of the city of Mont Belvieu when its core sat on top of the Barbers Hill Salt Dome. The road now stands as a remnant of the original city core which move a few miles to the east when ground subsidence became an issue on the hill. Loop 207 south of Williams Street was closed to public traffic on July 16 2018 after Texas Farm-To-Market Road 565 North, also known as Cove Road, was extended west from it's original terminus at Texas Loop 207 to Texas State Highway 146

The closure south of Williams Street will benefit the Enterprise Products-Mont Belvieu plant as the plant is currently bisected by the road and hinders the plant's functioning to a minimal degree as crossing the plant requires exiting gates and entering others to cross Texas Loop 207. The road will be left as is through the plant, however, like Exxon-Baytown there will be gates at both points the road enters the plant grounds and the public will not be permitted beyond said gates as they will be able to access points the route currently provides access to via the extension of Texas Farm-to-Market Road 565 North, also known as Cove Road, when it is extended to Texas State Highway 146.
