"New Town's character is primarily residential, institutional, and recreational with open space and undeveloped lands predominating. Many of the residential areas have been recently constructed. Eagle Drive and F.M. 565 (Cove St.) traverse the district. Eagle Drive is the main local north south thoroughfare. Located along Eagle Drive are the Barbers Hill ISD facilities, including the elementary, secondary, and high school, the civic center, and a sparse distribution of commercial and residential uses. The limitations of the New Town district, as a residential area and future "town center." is the lack of a supporting road network, open space amenities, and neighborhood
oriented commercial services which cater to the City's residents. There are five residential neighborhoods in the City: Cherry Point, Old River Country, Fishers Landing, Crown Colony and the Hill. All of these areas are located in the New Town distinct with the exception of the small Hill subdivision which has largely been bought out and the residents relocated."
