Panagar was formerly a town adjacent to Jabalpur City and nowadays due to the expansion of Jabalpur Metropolitan Area, it has got the status of suburb of this widely expanding city. It is under the control of Panagar Municipality (Panagar Nagar Palika), whereas Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has asked the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh to transfer this suburb under its control.
