Lake Monticello was originally constructed as a possible water reservoir for future use. Since it's opening in the 1990s, it has become a premier fishing destination in southeast Arkansas.

Also has become a prime makeout spot for teenagers and students from the local university.
Some have been known to partake in some skinny dipping in the late hours of the night in the lake also.
