This canyon is a favorite for tactical jets from Elmendorf AFB. It sits under the Stony Military Operating Area which allows jets to fly all the way down to the surface at speeds greater than the usual speed limit of 250kts. The canyon has the remains of a glacier running down the center and sheer rock walls that probably rise close to 1,500ft above the canyon floor.
