Exxon Mobil, petrochemical industry, oil refinery
The largest oil refinery in the United States with a capacity of 557,000 barrels per day. It was featured in Science Channel's "How Do They Do It?"
It was established in 1919 (just a mere five years after the opening of the Houston Ship Channel) as the Humble Oil Baytown Refinery, which eventually fully combined with affiliate Jersey Standard (Standard Oil of New Jersey), which eventually became Exxon (and ultimately ExxonMobil).
