Kearl is an oil sands mining operation with ultimate production of 345,000 barrels of bitumen per day. Imperial Oil Limited (majority owned by ExxonMobil) began production in late 2012 with Phase 1, which has a capacity of 110,000 barrels per day. Phase 2, a 110,000 barrel expansion, is under construction and due for startup in 2015.
